James Curtis ‘J.C.’ Wimpsett, 85, Culvertown

James Curtis “J.C.” Wimpsett, 85, of Culvertown, died Tuesday, March armyveteranlogo5, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Culvertown. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a retiree of Barton Brands LTD after 35-1/2 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the son of the late Joseph Felix and Elizabeth Izetta Burba Wimpsett.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Harold Wimpsett; two sisters, Sr. Roberta Maria Wimpsett and Catharine Louise Wimpsett; and three brothers, Joseph LeLand Wimpsett, Anthony Everett Wimpsett and Joseph Edwin Wimpsett.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Rita Culver Wimpsett of Culvertown; one daughter, Sharon Thompson and her husband Eddie, both of Bardstown; four sons, Gary Wimpsett and his wife Nancy, both of Louisville, Mike Wimpsett and his wife Sandy, both of Bardstown, Allen Wimpsett and his wife Jean Marie, and Dennis Wimpsett and his wife Debbie, all of New Haven; three sisters, Elizabeth Beam and her husband Earl “Foots,” Dorothy Ballard, and Martha Willett and her husband Jimmy, all of Bardstown; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial is in St. Thomas Cemetery with military honors provided by the Marion County Honor Guard.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, and 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel officiated by Deacon Arnold Downs.
