Benedict O. Williamson, 78, of Louisville, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at his home surrounded by family.

He was a native of New Hope and a retired employee of General Electric and Woody’s Barber Shop. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He also coached baseball at Camp Taylor Little League for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hardin and Anna Marie Williamson; and a number of siblings.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Nalley Williamson;

three daughters, Cathy Ambach and her husband David, Susan Lawrence and her husband Carl, and Donna Williamson, all of Louisville; one son, Bill Williamson and his wife, Karen, both of Louisville; two sisters, Hazel Van Becelaere of Arizona and Catherine Hicks of New Hope; one brother, Bob Williamson and his wife Virginia, both of Northbrook, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 12:30 p.m. Weddnesday, March 13, 2013, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross with the Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
