Driver arrested after chasing hit-and-run suspect through 3 counties
Friday, March 15, 2013, 3:55 a.m. — A 26-year-old Cox’s Creek man was arrested early Friday morning after he was involved in a three-county chase following an alleged hit-and-run accident with another vehicle in the Mount Washington area.
At about 3:15 a.m. Friday, deputies with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were en route north on US31E to the area of KY480 on an unrelated call when one of the officers was passed by a southbound 2002 Buick running without its headlights on. One of the officers turned around to stop the vehicle, but the driver ignored the officer’s lights and sirens and continued south. The driver of the Buick turned onto Deatsville Road, KY 523, and the chase continued south several miles before the Buick stopped due to vehicle trouble.
Nelson County EMS was called to treat the driver for minor injuries before he was turned over to police. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail. Bardstown Police met with the driver of the car being pursued to get a statement regarding the alleged incident that took place in Mount Washington.
The original call the deputies were responding to involved reports of a while male standing along Louisville Road near its intersection with KY480, flagging people down to tell them of an old house with spirits in it that he planned to burn down. Police did not locate the man.
