One person dead, 3 injured in head-on crash near Sympson Lake

Saturday, March 19, 2010, 10:35 p.m. — One person has died in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Boston Road near Sympson Lake. Three others were  taken to the hospital for treatment. The accident happened about 10:20 Saturday evening.

A 59-year-old male front seat passenger in one of the vehicles was airlifted from Flaget Memorial Hospital and flown to University of Louisville Hospital. His injuries were described as arm, facial trauma and a puncture wound on one leg. The driver of one of the vehicles, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to Flaget for treatment. Her injuries included an open ankle fracture and chest pain. A third person, a male passenger in the woman’s car, was taken to Flaget complaining of shoulder pain.

Boston Road was closed for about an hour while the accident was investigated. The Kentucky State Police, the county coroner and deputies with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
