Garland Anthony Boone, 86, Howardstown

Garland Anthony Boone, 86, of Howardstown, died Monday, March 25, 2013, peacefully at his home. He was a Catholic by faith and a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown. He was the captain of the Howardstown Fire Department, a member of the Rolling Fork Fire Department, vice president of the board of directors of the Rolling Fork Fire Department, and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from Bartons Distillery in Bardstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel Boone and Saloma Lucy Howard Boone; one sister, Josephine O’Daniel; and five brothers, Irvin Boone, Punch Boone, Bud Boone, Ed Boone and Cyril Boone.

Survivors include his loving wife, Margaret Mary Taylor Boone; three daughters, Margaret Mary Welch and her husband Jim, both of Terre Haute Ind., Charlotte Ann Potts and her husband Steve, both of Louisville and Anne Garland Snellen and her husband Vernie, both of Culvertown; two sons, Joseph Edward “Eddie” Boone and his wife Jacqueline, and David Anthony Boone and his wife Tiffany, all of Howardstown; three sisters, Aurelia Cecil of Howardstown, Susan Davis of Louisville, and Mary Cora Head of New Haven; and 16 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown with the Rev. Ken Fortener presiding.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013, and 9-10:30 Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to the St. Ann School, 7500 Howardstown Road, Howardstown, KY 40051.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
