Sunday, April 7, 2013 – A photo of a Bardstown restaurant’s Final Four-related sign drew harsh criticism from both UK and Louisville Cardinal fans after it appeared on Facebook late Friday evening.

A photo of the sign at Buffalo Wings & Rings stated “Final Four Go Cards Break A Leg.” Matt Hall, of Bardstown, is a Cardinals fan who posted the photo Friday on his Facebook page, adding “This is some bull. And people wonder why people can’t stand UK fans. But hell I guess you got to find somthin to do when ur sitting at home this time of year.”

Hall’s posted photo was shared nearly 100 times and drew disgust and criticism from the majority of Facebook users who took time to comment. The sign was changed by early Saturday morning to “Win for Ware 5,” Facebook users noted.

“This is sad coming from a Bardstown business,” one person commented. “One more reason why I’m not a UK fan.”

“Even a moron could thought of something besides break a leg… How about GOOD LUCK???? I think some of us are right about their intentions. Will never eat there again. BOO.”

“I love the rivalry between Cat and Card fans,” one fan commented, “but this is unprofessional! Go CARDS!”

Some Facebook comments drew a parallel between Kevin Ware’s injury with the less-than-tactful comments by some UofL fans when UK freshman Nerlens Noel suffered a season-ending knee injury in February.

“I agree it was in poor taste, but I think everyone is getting way too upset over it,” one Facebook user posted. “From what I understand the quote came from Kevin Ware himself on one of the many TV shows he’s been on. With that being said I’ve never eaten there so I couldn’t care less either way.”

Buffalo Wings and Rings is a Cincinnati-based family restaurant that specializes in casual dining food products such as chicken wings, burgers and gyros. The chain has more than 40 restaurants in 15 states.
