Charles William “Charlie” O’Bryan, 87, Bardstown

Charles William “Charlie” O’Bryan, 87, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Windsor Gardens. He was born wwIIveteranlogoNov. 28, 1925, in Nelson County. He retired from Chevron, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Culver O’Bryan; his parents, Albern and Gertrude O’Bryan; one sister, Lillian Thornsberry; and four brothers, T.J. O’Bryan, Robert O’Bryan, Frank O’Bryan, and Leo O’Bryan.

He is survived by his sister, Louise O’Bryan Greenwell and her husband James, both of Glendale; two brothers-in-law, Ray Culver of Bardstown, and Lowell Culver of Louisville; three sisters-in-law, Theresa O’Bryan of Louisville, Rita Wimpsett and Patty Masterson, both of New Haven; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Rev. David Carr will officiate.

Visitation is 3–8 pm Monday, April 8, 2013, and 11 – 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Monday.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
