Nancye Enlow, 95, formerly of Bardstown

Nancye Enlow, 95, formerly of Bardstown, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville. She was the former Nancye Sympson and was born on Nov. 9, 1917, in Cox’s Creek. She retired from the Ireland Army Hospital in Fort Knox in 1983 where she worked in administration. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church over 60 years where she taught Sunday School and directed Christmas pageants. She was a gifted china painter and won numerous awards. She was a Wilkin’s homemaker, a member of Eastern Star and in 1993 was elected Larue County Mother of the Year.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.H. Collins in 1938; her second husband of 55 years, Anthony Vernon Enlow; one son, Larry Collins; one daughter, Nancye Gallant; her parents, Reuben and Pauline Roby Sympson; and one brother, Seibert Sympson.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Rock and her husband Terry, both of Apopka, Fla., Ada Christy and her husband Larry, both of Franklin; two sons, Darryl Enlow and his wife Mary, both of Magnolia, and Dr. Craig Enlow and his wife Karen, both of Danville; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Collins; one sister-in-law, Virginia Sympson; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Dylan Mays will officiate.

Visitation is 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
