Blondella ‘Bonnie’ Varnell, 60, Bardstown
Blondella “Bonnie” Varnell, 60, of Bardstown, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at her home. She was the former Blondella Sallee and was born Aug. 1, 1952 in Springfield. She was a 17-year employee of Wee Care Day Care and a member of New Salem Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and nursery worker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva Cornish Sallee, and two brothers, Thomas Wesley Sallee and Tony Sallee.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Lloyd Varnell; four daughters, Shawnee Gonzales of Amarillo, Texas, Sarah Bryan and her husband Casey, both of Bardstown, Johnye Wethington of Bloomfield, and Edwina Varnell of Louisville; one son, Clint (Virginia) Varnell and his wife Virginia, both of Bardstown; five sisters, Peggy Curtsinger of Springfield, Mary Lanham of Elizabethtown, Ina Gribbons of Campbellsville, Annie Sallee of Bardstown and Eva “Ree” Sallee of Springfield; three brothers, Bill Sallee of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ernie Sallee of Springfield, and Mark Sallee of Lindsey, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at New Salem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Jonathan Gann will officiate.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the church.
The family has requested expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to New Salem Baptist Church.
