John Prewitt, 93, of Bardstown

John Prewitt, 93, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Choctaw County, Mississippi. He attended East wwIIveteranlogoMississippi State Junior College where he played football for two years before entering the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Indochina theater where he met his loving wife. He retired from Brandeis Machinery after more than 30 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Brown Prewitt; his parents, Albert and Pearl Moore Prewitt; three sisters; and three brothers.

He is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann Prewitt Ford and her husband Goebel, both of Lexington; one son, John Prewitt Jr. of Louisville; one sister, Francis Chivers, of Mississippi; two brothers, Grady Prewitt and A.C. Prewitt, both of Mississippi; three granddaughters, Ann Ford Sanford and her husband Teddy, both of Elizabethtown, Jennifer Lee Rivera and her husband Mark, both of Berea, and Sara Crosland Ford of Lexington; and five great-grandchildren, Landon, Logan, Lofton, Emma and Madyson, all of Mississippi.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. John Sanderson will officiate.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, and after 9 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to the First Presbyterian Church.

Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
