Murray U. Collins, 93, Chaplin
Murray U. Collins, 93, of Chaplin, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
He was a native of Norfolk, Va. He was retired member of the Armed Forces, having served seven years in the U.S. Navy and 13 years in the U.S. Army. He also served as a dietician for Morrison’s Cafeteria and had been a salesman for Corvin’s Furniture in Bardstown. He was a member of the Bardstown Senior Citizens, the Chaplin Baptist Church and a Mason.
He was the son of the late John R. & Mattie Hollingsworth Collins. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Keeling Collins; three stepdaughters, Sharon Thompson and her husband Stevie, both of Bloomfield, Sheila Curtsinger and her husband Terry, both of Willisburg, and Angie Lobb and her husband John, both of Jacksonville Fla.; four adopted children, Jessica Collins, Shawn Collins, Karen Collins and Leslie Collins, all of Chaplin; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bros. Gene Dowell, Heath Woolman and Marvin Redmon officiating. Burial is in Highland Memory Garden in Mt. Washington with military honors.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
