Joseph Roger Ballard, 56, of Murrieta, Calif., formerly of Holy Cross, died Monday, April 29, 2013, in California.
He was a 1974 graduate of Marion County High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Ballard; one brother, James Glenn Ballard; one sister, Emma Jane Ballard; and his stepfather, J.B. Boone.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ballard Boone of Bardstown; his companion, Linda Wolfinger, of Murrieta, Calif., her children, Andrew and Nicole; and her grandchildren, all of Murrieta, Calif.; two sisters, Grace Cambron (Gary) and Nora Ballard, all of Bardstown; two brothers, Bruce Ballard of White City and Ralph Ballard (Lola) of Bardstown; three stepsisters, Anita Case, Mary Culver and Becky Smith; two stepbrothers, Bernie Boone and Greg Boone; eight nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins, stepnieces and stepnephews.
Cremation was chosen. A graveside services is 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Loretto, with military rites conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 1 p.m. by Fr. Jeff Hopper.
Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
