State’s healthcare exchanges the topic of today’s ‘Brooks & Company’

Monday, May 13, 2013 — Tuesday’s edition of WBRT’s “Brooks & Company” will feature an interview with Ashland insurance broker Marcus Woodward, a member of the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange Advisory Board. Woodward will discuss the exchange and what it means for Kentucky’s implementation in the Affordable Care Act.
Woodward is scheduled to join the program at about 11:15 a.m. Tune in at 11 a.m. on WBRT 1320, 97.1 or live streaming, NelsonCountyGazette.com, or WBRTCountry.com.
The Health Benefit Exchange Advisory Board review programmatic and policy issues and makes recommendations for the state’s marketplace for health insurance mandated by the federal Affordable Care Act.
The Health Benefit Exchange will operate as an online marketplace where individual Kentuckians and employees of small businesses can comparison shop for health insurance based on cost, benefits and quality. It will also allow individuals and businesses to apply for premium subsidies and tax credits. Through the Exchange, an individual can also apply and have eligibility determined for Medicaid and the Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (KCHIP).
