Virginia Roberts, 83, Bardstown
Virginia Roberts, 83, of Bardstown, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born on July 25, 1929, in Nelson County where she was a homemaker. She loved hosting large family celebrations, decorating for the holidays, nurturing her grandchildren talents in music, art, and academics. She was a member of both St. Joseph and Holy Trinity Catholic Churches and cherished her angel collection that grew over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Elsie Agnes McNabb Settles; two sisters, Kathryn Hardesty and Joyce Riggs; and six brothers, William Settles, Roy Settles, Jerry Settles, Winston Settles, David Settles and John “Buddy” Settles.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years,former Nelson County Judge Charles Roberts; two daughters Karen (Thomas) Weber of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mary Adams of Bardstown; four sons, Christian (Tammy) Roberts, Stephen (Kathy) Roberts and Patrick Roberts, all of Bardstown, and Michael Roberts of Louisville; three sisters, Mary Jane Adams and Sharon Wathen both of Bardstown, and Geneva Thompson of Cox’s Creek; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial is noon Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Bill Hammer celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with prayers at 6 p.m.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions for Masses in her memory.
