Brother and sister die in two-vehicle crash at Rooster Run Saturday night
Saturday, May 18, 2013, 11:30 p.m. (Updated Sunday, May 19, 2013, 2 a.m.) — Two siblings were killed and three injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a truck pulling a closed trailer and a passenger car on KY245 near Rooster Run.
Just after 10 p.m. Saturday, EMS, police and firefighers were dispatched to the reported accident involving a truck and a passenger vehicle. Nelson County EMS transported one injured person directly to University Hospital, while the second injured person — a 7-year-old boy with possible chest injuries — was flown by helicopter from the Flaget Hospital helipad to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville. The Bardstown Fire Department was on the scene for four hours to extricate the victims, help with the injured, and provide lighting for accident investigators.
The victims were identified as Johnathon Blair, 23, and his sister, Amaris Blair, 22, both of Cox’s Creek. Funeral arrangements are pending.
The crash closed KY 245 at Rooster Run. Firefighters and police rerouted traffic around the crash via Samuels Loop. KY245 was closed for nearly four hours and was finally open to traffic again at 2 a.m. Sunday.
