JIM ROONEY

Jim Rooney, 74, of Bardstown, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at UofL Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. He was a retired mechanical engineer for General Electric, a self-employed writer for computer software, and raised two of his grandchildren, Monica Carr and David Wells. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Monica Catholic Church, and an avid photographer and woodworker.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Rooney of Bardstown; three daughters, Marie Carr of Portland, Maine, Brenda Bryan of Standish, Maine, and Heather Shelton of Strasburg, Penn.; one son, Joseph Rooney of Berkley, California; two sisters, Mary Katherine Wennekers of Rolling Hills, Alberta, Canada, and Geraldine MacLeod of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; two brothers, Michael Rooney, and Patrick Rooney, both of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hopper will officiate.

Visitation is 3–8 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, and 9–10:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Monday evening.

Memorial contributions may go to donor’s favorite charity.
