Edward Ernest Fowler, 88, formerly of Bardstown
Edward Ernest “Ed” Fowler, 88, formerly of Bardstown, died May 13, 2013 in Lansdale, Penn. He was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Denver, Colo. He retired from Burroughs Corporation in 1989 and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of the Bardstown United Methodist Church, an active member and Past Master of the Duvall Lodge #6, Free and Accepted Masons of Bardstown, a member of My Old Kentucky Home Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #436 and served twice as Worthy Patron.
He was a man of many interests and hobbies, which included photography, model railroading, woodworking and more recently, ham radio. He was licensed in 1988 and held the callsign KC4RIY before he changed his callsign to K4EEF. He was longtime president of the Kentucky Amateur Radio Society, and a devoted member of the Ten-Ten International Net, a ham radio organization which provided him with many friends all over the world.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Vescovi Fowler, who died in 1999; his parents, Otis Ernest Fowler and Mathilda Botzenhart Fowler Noregard; and one sister, Helen Fowler Kull.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jane Fowler Harper and her husband Richard, both of Louisville, Colo., Amelia “Amy” Pauline Fowler Hogan and her husband Jay V. Minnucci, both of East Greenville, Pa., and Helen Christine Fowler Shissler and her husband Wallace “Mike,” both of Willow Grove, Pa.; one son, Matthew Ernest Fowler, and his wife, Alma, both of Manheim, Germany; one brother-in-law, Albert “Bud” Kull of Thornton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Sarah Beth Solis and her husband Moez, both of Oakland, Calif., Jesse Andrew Harper of Baltimore, Md., Alison Marie Serianni, wife of Jeremy Danley, both of Harleysville, Pa., Jessica Louise Shissler of Langhorne, Pa., Rebecca Christine Shissler of Willow Grove, Pa., Mia Nicole Fowler of Manheim, Germany; and two great-grandchildren, Dureau Violet Solis and Ashraf Bowie Solis both of Oakland, Calif.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, beginning with a Masonic Service at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home. Burial is in Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
