Joe Dittman, 68, Bardstown
Joe Dittman, 68, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. He was born November 2, 1944, in Cincinnati. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville and a retired police officer for UofL after 38 years. He worked with the FBI Homeland Security and was a member of the FBI National Training Academy. He was an Air Force veteran and loved to attend the Abbey of Gethsemani.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ora Mattingly Dittman; one infant brother, Richard Dittman; and two sisters, Kathleen Dittman and Annette Virdin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Martha Coleman Dittman of Bardstown; one daughter, Jennifer Dittman Gibson; one son, Joseph Andrew Dittman; one sister, Connie Thompson; one brother, Frank Gropp; special nieces and nephews, Dana, Jennifer, Matthew, Maggie, John, Allison and CeCe; and six grandchildren.
The funeral is 4 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with a private burial at a later date. The Rev. Bob Ray will officiate.
Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
