Tuesday, May 21,  2013, 3:12 p.m. — The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for south central Nelson County has expired, but the storm that prompted the warning is continuing to push through Nelson County.

The storm is no longer severe, but is capable of heavy rain and 40 to 50 mph wind gusts.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 p.m. tonight. A watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally
do produce tornadoes.

Additional warnings may be expected through the afternoon as this storm front pushes through Nelson County.
