One dead after single-vehicle rollover crash near on US 62 near Chaplin

Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 7:50 p.m. — One person died Wednesday evening in a single-vehicle rollover crash on US 62 near Chaplin.

A Northeast Nelson firefighter reported the accident to Nelson County Dispatch about 6:30 Wednesday. Reports at the scene indicate the victim was apparently ejected from the vehicle he was driving. The vehicle was believed to have rolled over the victim, who was found unconscious but breathing.

The Northeast Nelson Fire Department, Nelson County EMS, police and a medical helicopter were summoned to the crash location. The victim, described as a man between the age of 40-50, died at the scene before he could airlifted from the site.

The Nelson County Coroner is at the crash site at this story was published. No one else was injured in the crash.
