Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter 4 May meeting highlights
Thursday, May 23, 2013 — The membership meeting of Rolling Thunder Inc. Kentucky Chapter Four was held May 5, 2012. Receiving a Blue Star Coin from chapter President Jack Killion was Kim Mills who has a son in the service.
Several guest speakers were on hand to give a presentation on the Solder & Family Assistance Center at Fort Knox. The Director of SFAC, Isadora Ewing, informed the chapter of the many opportunities open for soldiers in transition. Services are provided to the Soldier in Transition Unit and their family members.
Captain Elias Donker, a member of the Warrior Transition Unit (Wounded Warriors) and Purple Heart recipient is in the process of getting the Creative Arts Program started in the unit. He has initiated the ceramic program and will teach the course to fellow Wounded Warriors. CPT Donker also brought his wife, Sara, and daughter, Anneke, to the meeting.
NEVER FORGOTTEN RUN. The Never Forgotten Run will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and ride leaves at 11 a.m. It starts and ends at Colvin Community Center in Radcliff. The rain date is July 12, 2013.
The ride will be on scenic Kentucky back roads and the cost is $20 per player, $10 second hand, $5 extra to draw at the last stop. Lunch is $5 donation: hamburger, hotdog, chips and drink. Auction and 50/50 drawing at last stop. Raffle for a Ruger 308 with Nikon scope, one chance is $5, or five chances for $20. Donations will help Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter Four assist our veterans and raise awareness of the POW/MIA issues.
ROLLING THUNDER 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The 1st Annual Rolling Thunder 5K FUN RUN/WALK will be held on 9 a.m. Aug. 3, 2013, at Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown. Preregistration is $25, (www.3wayracing.com), $30 on day of the event. Race Day Registration is 8-8:45 a.m. Register by July 15 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Walkers encouraged. Rolling Thunder, Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, monthly membership and business meetings are held the first Sunday of the month in the Colvin Community Center, 230 Freedoms Way, Radcliff. Meetings are open to the public and dues are $30 per year. Anyone can join, even though many members are veterans and ride motorcycles, you don’t need to be a veteran or ride a bike to join. The major function of Rolling Thunder Inc, is to publicize the POW/MIA issue and committed to helping homeless and disabled veterans of all wars and other Veterans issues.
