RONALD EDWARD THOMPSON

Ronald Edward Thompson, 66, of Deatsville, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at his home after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born Nov. 1, 1946, and was retired from Johnson Controls – Globe Battery Division in Louisville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, 396 Engineering Co., Bardstown, and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Cecil Thompson; his stepfather, Ansel Norton; two brothers, Dennis Ray Thompson and Mickey Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan McGee Thompson of Deatsville; his mother, Mildred Rummage Thompson of Nazareth; one son, Terry Wayne Thompson of Bardstown; three brothers, Don (Judy) Thompson of Bardstown, Neal (Charlotte) Thompson of Cox’s Creek, and Glen (T.J.) Thompson of New Albany, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home. Bro. Carl Thomas will officiate.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County.

Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
