Genevieve Parrott King, 82, Cox’s Creek
Genevieve Parrott King, 82, of Cox’s Creek, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at Jefferson Manor in Louisville. She was born April 14, 1931 in Botland, and was a retired sales clerk for Jim Beam Brands Outpost and Marshall’s Jewelers. She was an accomplished seamstress, doing custom sewing, making quilts and other crafts. She was a member of Nelson County Homemakers Club, and New Salem Baptist Church for 57 years, where she played piano, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was active with W.M.U.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mollie Parrott; three sisters, Elizabeth P. Summers, Martha Deacon, and Anna L. Raymond; and one brother, Randolph Parrott.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda King of Lexington; one sister, Kathleen Parrott of Louisville; two nephews; and one niece.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday May 28, 2013, at New Salem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Jonathan Gann will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, and 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.
Memorial contributions may go to New Salem Baptist Church.
