Saturday, May 25, 2013, 6:20 p.m. — Local and area first-responders escorted the body of Bardstown Police K-9 Officer Jason Ellis from the medical examiner’s office in Louisville back to Bardstown about 5:30 Saturday evening. The body was accompanied by local police, fire and EMS units, as well as officers from Jefferson and Bullitt counties on the trip back to the county. Emergency vehicles stretched more than a mile down KY 245, literally as far as the eye could see. Other vehicles on the roadway pulled to the side of the road in honor of the fallen officer.

Funeral arrangements are pending, and will be posted and linked to the Gazette’s Facebook page as soon as they become available. Follow the Gazette on Facebook — www.facebook.com/ncgazette.
