DONALD ANTHONY CECIL

Donald Anthony Cecil, 81 of Howardstown, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born and raised in Howardstown, was a Catholic by faith and a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 87 in Hodgenville, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree, Bardstown. He owned and operated Howardstown Liquor Store in Howardstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Conrad and Cora Edmond Howard Cecil; three sisters, Margaret Sims, Gladys Berndt, and Iveta Sprowles; two brothers, Harold Cecil and Alfred Cecil.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lavon Greenwell Cecil; one daughter, Donna (Jeff) Grayson of Erlanger; five sons, Alan (Diane) Cecil of Bardstown, Terry (Penny) Cecil, Matt (Terri) Cecil and David (Mary) Cecil, all of Howardstown, and Joe Paul (Pam) Cecil of Hodgenville; three sisters, Mary Allen of Clarksville, Ind., Roberta Stallings of El Paso Texas, and Sue Smith of Brooks; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown with the Rev. Ken Fortener presiding.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Monday.

Memorial Contributions may go to St. Ann Church, 7500 Howardstown Road, Howardstown, KY 40051.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Have is in charge of arrangements.
