Officer Jason Ellis, 33, Bardstown
Jason Ellis, 33, of Bardstown, died Saturday, May 25, 2013. He was born September 22, 1979, in Cincinnati and was a K-9 officer for the Bardstown Police Department. He was a 1998 graduate of Glen Este High School in Cincinnati where he was a first team all-city baseball player in 1998 and player of the year in the Queen City Conference. He played baseball for what is now the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, for the minor league Billings Mustangs in Montana, and he was active in youth sports in Nelson County as a coach. He was a member of the N.N.D.D.A. K-9 Association, the local Fraternal Order of Police # 43, the Special Response Team, and attended Bloomfield Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Ellis; his maternal grandfather, Eugene Heming; his maternal grandmother, Grace Marie Heming; and his paternal grandmother, Anna Lou Ellis.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Phillips Ellis of Bloomfield; two sons, Hunter Ellis and Parker Ellis, both of Bloomfield; his mother, Pamela Sue Dearwester of Cincinnati; two sisters, Kelly (Andy) Ellis Eastman, and Lacey (Brandon) Ellis Young both of Amelia, Ohio; three nieces; and four nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Parkway Baptist Church of Bardstown, with burial in Highview Cemetery, Chaplin.
Visitation is 2–8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Parkway Baptist Church of Bardstown.
