Update: Tributes encouraged along Ellis funeral procession route Thursday
Tuesday, May 28, 2013, 11:30 p.m. (Updated Wednesday, May 29 11:30 a.m.) — Following the 11 a.m. Thursday funeral service for Officer Jason Ellis at Parkway Baptist Church, the procession will leave the church and turn right onto Springfield Road. It will proceed to Nelson County Justice Center complex where it will pass in front of the Bardstown Police Department.
According to WLKY, the procession will then travel west on East Stephen Foster Avenue to the Court Square, then north on North Third Street to the intersection of KY 245 (John Rowan Boulevard).
The procession will turn right onto East John Rowan Boulevard, traveling to the intersection of US62 (Bloomfield Road) and East John Rowan.
The procession will turn left to travel north on US 62 toward Bloomfield. The intersection of KY 55 will be blocked at its intersection with Bloomfield Road.
Once in the city of Bloomfield, Taylorsville Road, Fairfield Road, and Hill Street will be blocked to allow the procession to proceed uninterrupted.The procession will turn right onto Chaplin Road at the traffic light and then continue on US62 to the Highview Cemeter.
The public is encouraged to place tributes in the form of signs or flags along the procession route.
FLAGS AT HALF STAFF. Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles has asked that all flags flown at public offices and businesses in Bardstown be flown at half staff Thursday as a show of respect for the memory and service of Officer Jason Ellis.
