Mack Holt, 78, Cox’s Creek
Mack Holt, 78, of Cox’s Creek, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, peacefully at home in his own bed. He was born June 12, 1934, in Taylor County. He graduated from Campbellsville High School, attended Campbellsville College, UK, UofL Speed School, graduated from GE Tool and Dye Program, and retired from General Electric after 37 years. He farmed and raised Charolais Cattle which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mack loved all sports, but UK basketball was No. 1. He was a member of Nelson County Farm Bureau, Nelson County Beef Cattle Association, and the Nelson Ag Advancement Council. He enjoyed meeting monthly with other GE retirees for breakfast. He was a member of Mount Washington United Methodist Church for more than 50, where he taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and served on various committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rose McKinley Holt; one sister, Shirley Moss; two brothers, James Murrell Holt, and Norris Holt; and twin great-grandchildren, Immanuel and Faith Holt.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Hansford Holt of Cox’s Creek; two daughters, Gail (Leo) Downs of Bardstown, and Holly (Marc) Cetrulo of Cold Spring; one son, Marland (Darlene) Holt of Harrodsburg; one brother, Lewis Holt of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Holt and Doris Holt, both of Campbellsville; six grandchildren, Adam (Susan) Holt, Jessi (Nick) Jones, Jacob (Nikki) Downs, Chance (Brandie) Downs, Samantha Cetrulo, and Frank Cetrulo; seven great-grandchildren to whom he was Pappaw Chick, Anna, Lauren and Luke Holt, Sophie and CeCe Jones, McCain and Jack Holt Downs; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home with burail in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Boutel will officiate.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
