Frank Dancy Schultz, 77, Seminole, Fla., formally of Bardstown
Frank Dancy Schultz, 77, of Seminole, Fla., formally of Bardstown, died Monday, May 27, 2013. He was born Aug. 4, 1935, to Edwin and Claire Kruger Schultz of North Little Rock, Ark.
He served as a U.S. Senate page for the 81st U.S. Congress in 1949, and ever since was active in political endeavors. He was editor and family owner of the Jackson News Progress in Jacksonville, Ark. He served his country in the Air Force from 1953-57 and as a non-commissioned officer at National Guard Headquarters, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, in Louisville from 1972-76. He was owner of John Deere Machinery Co., Louisville; vice president and director of sales for Allied Machinery Co., Louisville & Madisonville; regional Sales manager for Komatsu America Corporation; and My Old Kentucky Home Bank.
He and his family moved from Arkansas to Bardstown in 1963, where he immediately became involved in the community he loved. He served on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee; was past president of the Optimist Club and as Lt. Governor of the Kentucky-West Virginia District of Optimist International. He served as president of Bardstown High School PTA. He was a Kentucky high school football referee, and served on the board of My Old Kentucky Home Country Club. He also served as scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 99 beginning in 1968. He was an ordained deacon of the First Baptist Church of Bardstown.
He was a political activist, newspaperman, salesman and friend to all, and will be lovingly remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin Schultz Jr. and Blake Schultz, and one sister Mary Claire Heilman.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Bradbury Schultz of Seminole, Fla.; two daughters, Pam Harris of Danville, Calif. and Stacy Hufziger of Seminole, Fla.; one son, Col. Keith D. Schultz of Bossier City, La.; one brother, Richard Schultz of Brownsville, Maine; and one grandson, Brett Harris of Danville, Calif.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at the First Christian Church of Bardstown. The Rev. Rick Loader will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.
