Bardstown City Council gives final approval to cable TV rate hikes

Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 11 a.m. — The Bardstown City Council approved unanimously second and final reading of an ordinance that will raise the rates for all Bardstown Cable TV subscribers.
The cost for basic cable — channels 2-22 — will increase $2 per month. The cost for expanded basic cable — channels 23-74 — will increase by $3 per month. Customers who subscribe to premium movie channel packages will also see those rates increase as well.
The increases will go into effect July 1st.
In other action, the council:
– approved first reading on a rezoning request from Dixie and Stephen Hibbs to change the zoning on a .59 acre tract at 540 Old Bloomfield Pike from P1 Professional Office District to B4 General Business;
– approved first reading on a rezoning request from Phillip Lewis and John Lewis to change the zoning on 2.97 acres at 1449 North Third St. from A-1 Agricultural District and B3 Regional Retail Business District, to R-4 Multi-Family Residential District
– heard from Mayor Bill Sheckles that a rezoning request from Cees & Dees LLC and Riggs Home LLC was withdrawn;
– approved first reading of an ordinance to amend the Fiscal Year 2012-13 city budget;
– approved by a 5-0 vote a COA request from JTD Holdings LLC. Councilman Joe Buckman recused himself from the vote because he and his wife Jennifer are owners of JTD Holdings LLC;
– approved a request for an Oct. 19, 2013 5k walk/run to support Down Syndrome research in Bardstown which will require the temporary closure of some streets during the event.
The council will meet next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in the city council annex on Xavier Drive.
