Full schedule of Fairfield Homecoming activities set for June 22, 23

STAFF REPORT

fairfieldhomecoming2012Wednesday, June 12, 2013 — The annual Fairfield Homecoming is Saturday and Sunday, June 22 & 23. Residents past and present are invited to come visit — sit a spell and talk to a friend, a neighbor, or an old acquaintance; search the yard sales; have a great meal; reminisce over the pictures and artifacts; visit with schoolmates and friends at St. Michael School reunion; or just relax and enjoy the entertainment.

A variety of Fairfield keepsakes will be available for sale to support the homecoming. These include:

– Coverlets that depict Fairfield churches and former businesses. The coverlets are navy blue on a natural background at a cost of $35

– Homecoming T-shirts in blue, red, yellow, pink, green and navy;

– Quilt names: For a $5 donation, a deceased individual’s name, birth and death years can be added to the second quilt. Additional information provided is recorded in a separate book.

– Bank vault bricks from the former Peoples Bank, later the Bank of Fairfield. The bricks cost $20 and come with a commemorative plate and history information. Family surnames mentioned in the bank’s records include Allen, Bridwell, Briscoe, Brown, Bush, Clark, Cornell, Foreman, Grigsby, Jolly, Jones, King, Luckett, McKenna, Miller, Neal, Nichols, Ockerman, Overall, Powers, Roby, Rogan, Scott, Shanley, Sheehan, Shields, Simpson, Stallard, Stokes, Stone, Taylor, Tucker, Watson, Weaver, Wells, Whitaker, Wigginton and Wright.

– H. McKenna Distillery print. Visitors can place an order for a reproduction of J.P. Hathaway’s “birds-eye view” of the distillery, circa the early 1930s.

Homecoming organizers are always looking for additional photos of the Fairfield community, including people, buildings, farming activities or landscapes. For those who have materials to share, contact Mary Ellen Marquess at (502) 348-3475 (daytime), (502) 252-5171 (evenings) or e-mail mrogan1@bellsouth.net.
