Harley T. ‘Tommy’ Howard Jr., 79, Bloomfield
Harley T. “Tommy” Howard Jr., 79, of Bloomfield, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Springfield. He worked for 42 years as an agricultural pilot and was owner and operator of Howard Spray Service and Mower and Tiller Clinic. He was an avid trap shooter, past master and 56-year member of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 57. He was a member of Bloomfield O.E.S. # 219, Bloomfield Field and Stream, Bloomfield Baptist Church, a supporter and volunteer of Nelson County 4-H, Northeast Nelson Fire District Board of Directors, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Thomas “H.T.” Howard Sr. and Kathleen Akers Howard.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnn Crume Howard of Bloomfield; two sons, Charles T. (Donna) Howard and their children, Christina Grace Howard and Colin Garrett Howard of Chaplin, and Marlin F. (Jan) Howard and their children, Brent Thomas Howard and Hollyn Nicole Howard of Bardstown; one brother, Marlin Dennis “Denny” (Sue) Howard of Bloomfield; five brothers-in-law, Bobby H. (Betty) Crume, Charles (Karen) Crume, Jerry D. Crume, Jackie R. (Myrt) Crume, and Teddy S. Crume; one sister-in-law, Vickie S. Gaddie; a close friend, J. Lynn Cain of Hermitage, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Campground Cemetery. The Rev. Leland Parks and Rev. Richard Carwile will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home.
