Mary Rita Greenwell, 87, Bardstown
Mary Rita Greenwell, 87, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born May 23, 1926, in Bardstown. She was a homemaker, and a volunteer for American Red Cross Bloodmobile for more than 30 years. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 121, and St. Gregory Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip C. Greenwell; one granddaughter, Britney Joe Prewitt; her parents, Felix and Clara Burba; her stepmother, Beatrice Burba; two sisters, Volinda Greenwell, and Helen Cecil; and one brother, Alan Burba.
She is survived by five daughters, Mary (Billy) Cecil, Martha (Bert) Mattingly, Eva (Joe) Prewitt, Wanda (Doug) Ward, and Norma (Scott) Goss, all of Bardstown; two sons, Eddie (Elaine) Greenwell, and Steve (Annette) Greenwell, both of Bardstown; one half-brother, Joe Burba of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Eve will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, and 8-9:15 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Sunday followed by an American Legion Auxiliary service.
Memorial contributions may go to Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart/Stroke Association.
