FREDA SIMPSON

Freda Simpson, 91, of Bardstown, formerly of Chaplin, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Life Care Centers of Bardstown. She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Nelson County. She was a retired bookkeeper for Regal Oil, the former bookkeeper of Kentucky Utilities and the Bloomfield Western Auto store. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she sang in the choir.

She was the daughter of the late Gwynn and Eva Wathen Flaugher. She was and preceded in death by her husband, Dewanna Simpson; one daughter, Linda Simpson; three sisters, Sr. Anita OSU, Alice Bourgenhousen and Evelyn Flaugher; and three brothers, Ed Flaugher, Marvin Flaugher and Buddy Flaugher.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Simpson of Bardstown; one son, David (Debbie) Simpson of Goshen; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Tia and Derek Simpsonl; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fairfield with burial in the High View Cemetery in Chaplin. The Rev. Bill Hammer will celebrate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service Monday evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church building fund.

Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
