MARJORIE JANE SMITH GORDON

Marjorie Jane Smith Gordon, 91, of Bardstown, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Colonial Health and Rehabilitation in Bardstown. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and attended school there. She and her husband, Harold D. Gordon, moved the family to Lexington in 1967. In Lexington, she taught English as a second language, worked as a travel agent, and found her passion for UK basketball. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany, Ind., and the Republican’s Women’s Club. She loved to travel, write, surround herself with friends and family, share her computer skills and play bridge. While at Colonial she rarely missed a Bingo game.

She believed in reading the daily newspaper, weekly church attendance, ignoring dust, eating slowly, the companionship of a good dog or cat, and laughing often.

Her family and friends will miss her sense of humor, her warm and generous nature and her laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband.

Survivors include one daughter, Laura (William) Christensen of Bardstown; one granddaughter, Megan (Choia) Sprigler Mattix of Fort Collins Colo.; and one grandson, Air Force Staff Sgt. Kurt J. Sprigler of Destin, Fla.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Nelson County.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
