Nonie George, 100, Lebanon
Nonie George, 100, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Village of Lebanon. She was born in Louisville on Feb. 4, 1913.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Hyleme S. George Sr.; her parents, Jacob and Sara Abraham Deeb; one brother, Harry Abraham Deeb; and one sister, Emma Coury.
Survivors include three daughters, Irene (Jerry) Raterman of Louisville, Jo Ann (Mark, Sr.) Gormley of Versailles, Debbie (John) Mathews of Bardstown; four sons, Dr. Salem M. (Eva) George Sr. of Lebanon, Dr. Anthony (Judy) George Sr. of Louisville, Donald (Margaret) George Sr. of Lebanon, and Hyleme S. (Peg) George Jr. of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Bertha Jacobs, of Louisville; five sisters-in-law, Mary Thompson, Genella Shaheen, Hannah Thomas, Lucille Moison, Margaret George; one brother-in-law, Glenn George; 21 grandchildren, Dr. Nonie George (Marty) Cogan, Dr. Salem M. (Lu Ann) George Jr., Tim (Ann) George, Dr. David (Jodi) George, Caroline (Richard) Meena, Marianne (Mike) Peters, Dr. Mark E. (Laura) Gormley Jr., Tamra (John Hays) Gormley, Dr. John M. (Catherine) Gormley, Kathleen (Ron) Johnson, Dr. Tony (Kathy) George Jr., Jodi (Barry) Gorter, Jennifer (Rudy) Straub, Donald George Jr., Jacqueline (Tony) Omohundro, Hyleme S. (Anne) George III, Dr. Matthew George, Dr. Christopher George, Coury Mathews (Patrick) Hobbs, John B.(Tiffany) Mathews Jr., Michael (Erin) Mathews; 42 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, officated by the Rev. Bill Bowling. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with a prayer service 7 p.m.
