Injured driver airlifted Wednesday from Nelsonville Road crash site
Wednesday, July 31, 2013, 6:40 p.m. — The driver of a pickup truck was injured Wednesday evening when his vehicle left Nelsonville Road near Boston, traveled down an embankment and crashed into a tree. The man, believed to be in his mid-50s or early 60s, was trapped in the truck and was freed after a lengthy extrication by the members of the Boston Fire Department. Nelson County EMS responded to the scene and requested a medical helicopter respond to the old Boston School. The victim suffered multiple cuts on his arms and legs, head pain and hip pain. He was transported from the accident site to the waiting helicopter and flown to University Hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. His wife accompanied him on the flight to the hospital. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour and 15 minutes.
