HELEN CECELIA MILES

Helen Cecelia Miles, 91, formerly of Springfield and Bardstown, died Saturday Aug. 17, 2013, at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Holy Cross. She formerly worked at Fast Food Mart in Springfield. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton, St. Dominic Catholic Church in Springfield, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bardstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cleaver Miles;

her parents, Augustine Celestine Wheatley and Mary Eliza Kelty Murphy; one daughter, Brenda Reid; one son, Thomas Raymond Miles; one sister, Margaret Ewing; two brothers, Carl Wheatley and Charles Marvin Wheatley; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include five daughters, Jeanette Burdette, Mary Hagan, and Monica Mills all of Louisville, Rita Goldstein of Bardstown and Sheila Smith of Harrodsburg; four sons, Mark Miles of Mount Washington, Gus Miles of Bardstown, Donnie Miles of Loretto and Benny Miles of Louisville; two sisters, Monica Stiff and Dorothy Phillips, both of Louisville; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Matthew Hardesty will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road, Louisville and 4-9 p.m. Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 8:45 p.m.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Holy Rosary Cemetery or Nazareth Home.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
