CHARLES LEON MILES

Charles Leon Miles, 64, of St. Francis, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville. He was born Nov. 29, 1948 in Marion County. He was a former employee of International Harvester in Louisville and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Leon and Mary Josephine Hornback Miles; one sister, Rita Faye Graham; and three brothers, Melvin Miles, Sammy Miles and Tommy Miles.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Judy Downs Miles; one son, Charles Leon Miles, Jr. of Campbellsville; two sisters, Deverial Livers (Lambert) of Lebanon and Darlene O’Bryan (Tommy) of Shepherdsville; six brothers, Graves Miles, Johnny Miles (Diane) and Gordie Miles all of Louisville, Marion Miles (Edith) of St. Francis, Bernard Miles (Rosalind) of Lebanon and Danny Miles (Jessica) of New Haven; one sister-in-law, Janice Miles of Loretto; three granddaughters, Emma Miles, Rebecca Raley and Hannah Raley; and his buddy Ricky Alvey.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant. Burail will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Marion County Honor Guard.

Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, and 3-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are nephews, Chris Livers, Joey Raley, Mel Miles, Cadle Miles, Gori Robey, Shawn Robey, Dan Miles and Chad Miles.

Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
