Pre-memorial service set for Bro. Fred Halbrooks at First Cedar Creek Baptist

Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, 6 p.m. — A pre-memorial service for Bro. Fred Halbrooks, 92, will be held Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church, in Bardstown.

Bro. Halbrooks, a native of Alabama, is a graduate of Howard University (now Samford University) in Birmingham, Ala., and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.

He has been pastor of churches ranging from 25 to 1,500 members. He, his wife Hazel (deceased), and sons Bill and George (deceased) were a missionary family to Brazil from 1955 to 1973.

Upon his return from Brazil, Bro. Halbrooks was employed in the Sunday School Department of the Kentucky Baptist Convention as assistant director and director.

He was the Nelson Baptist Association Director of Missions from 1986 to 2002. Nelson Baptist Association includes over forty Southern Baptist churches in Nelson, Bullitt, and Spencer Counties. The NBA office is located at 204 West Broadway in Bardstown.

The pre-memorial service will be led by Freeman Trace Community Church, Elizabethtown, of which Bro. Halbrooks is the pastor. Freeman Trace meets each Sunday at Kensington Manor Care and Rehabilitation Center on St. Johns Road in Elizabethtown.

The service begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church sanctuary. A reception given by Freeman Trace members will be held in TFCCBC Educational Building following the service.

Friends of Bro. Halbrooks and other interested persons are invited to attend.
