Obituary: Geneva Perkins DeSpain, 78, Hodgenville

Geneva Perkins DeSpain, 78, walked through the gates of Heaven Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was born Jan. 29, 1935 in Howardstown. She was a member of Union Band Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis DeSpain; her parents, Virgil Leo Perkins and Jennie Perkins; and two brothers Gilbert Perkins and Ray Perkins.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris Ann Acob of Elizabethtown and June DeSpain Emberton (Dwayne) of Loxahatchee, Fla.; one son, David Scott DeSpain (Jill) of Loretto; five sisters, Patsy Riggs (Everett), Juanita Shofner (JC), Bonnie Sanders (Eddie), Irene Sprowels (Buddy), and Ethel Lobb (Ebby); three brothers, Richard Perkins, Paul Perkins, and Tommy Perkins (Debbie); five grandchildren, Scotty (Kelly) Acob and Nicolas (Tracy) Acob, both of Elizabethtown, Nicole Emberton of Orlando Fla., Joey Emberton of West Palm Beach Fla., and Gavin Scott DeSpain of Loretto; and one great-grandchild, Jayden Joseph Emberton of West Palm Beach Fla.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013,at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with Bro. Mike Akridge officiating. Burial is in the Union Band Baptist Church in Howardstown.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, and 9-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
