Obituary: Mary Lucille Smith, 88, New Haven,
Mary Lucille Smith, 88, of New Haven, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of New Haven and Culvertown area. She was the daughter of the late Louis Watson and Catherine Gertrude Spain Greenwell. She was a Catholic by faith and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of Culvertown Senior Citizens.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Louis Smith Sr.; an infant daughter, Theresa Mae Smith; one sister, Mildred Culver; three brothers, Burt Greenwell, William Greenwell and Marvin Greenwell; two grandsons, Christopher W. Smith and Joseph T “Jo Jo” Gilpin Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Metcalfe.
Survivors include 12 children, Donnie (Jan) Smith, Charlie Smith, Wanda (Arthur) Smith, Bill (Vicki) Smith, Marion (Lisa ) Smith, Marilyn (Darrell) Greenwell, Carolyn (Keith) Metcalfe, Mary Ellen (Dan) Ballard, Brenda Gilpin, Joe (Jennifer) Smith, Louise Clark and Johnny Smith; 32-grandchildren; and 32-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial is in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Bardstown.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Tuesday.
