Bardstown man arrested Wednesday on outstanding warrents
Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, 2:35 p.m. (Updated Sept. 12, 2013, 11 a.m.) — A man indicted in May was arrested by police Wednesday afternoon after he was spotted by a Nelson County deputy sheriff driving south into Bardstown.
At about 1:55 p.m., Nelson County Dispatch asked local officers to on the alert for a white Chevy Tahoe with tinted windows and custom rims driven by Ouckie Jermaine Hughes, 30, of Bardstown, reportedly heading southbound on US31 approaching Bardstown. A Nelson County deputy sheriff had just turned north onto US31E from KY 245 when he passed Hughes’ vehicle as the alert was being broadcast. The deputy turned around to pursue the SUV, which pulled into the parking lot of Walgreens at the intersection of US31E and KY245. Hughes was taken into custody and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Hughes was indicted May 15, 2013, by a Nelson County grand jury on charges that on Aug. 29, 2012, he allegedly sold less than four grams of cocaine to a confidential source within 1,000 feet of Bethlehem High School. The indictment further states Hughes was in possession of drug paraphernalia, and cites Hughes’ prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only plus conditions.
Hughes was also arrested on outstanding charges in Jefferson County.
