fireshieldThursday, Sept. 12, 2013, 6 p.m. — A fire Thursday afternoon damaged a mobile home in the 200 block of Greenfield Avenue in Stumph’s Mobile Home Park off Boston Road.

The Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County EMS were called the home about 5:14 Thursday with initial reports of heavy smoke and flames showing at the rear door of the home, located near the intersection of Greenfield Avenue and Stumphs Court.

After receiving a report that someone may be inside the home, Chief Marlin Howard attempted to enter the home as soon as he arrived in the command vehicle. He was joined by additional firefighters who helped search the home and determined no one was inside.

Nelson County EMS was called to return to the home at 6:30 p.m. to check out a family member. A 40-year-old male was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital complaining of high blood pressure and a headache. The American Red Cross was called to assist the resident with immediate shelter needs.
