Water heater thermostat prompts fire department investigation

fireshieldWednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, 8:45 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to the 400 block of Camptown Road to investigate smoke and an odor coming from the water heater of the home in the area. The resident cut the power to the water heater, and firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check if a fire spread into a wall. Firefighters determined the problem was a bad water heater thermostat. Fire units were on scene for about 15 minutes.
