Fire dept. rolls for reported propane tank leaking in roadway

fireshieldSaturday, Sept. 28, 2013, 10:30 p.m. — Bardstown Police and the Bardstown Fire Department were called at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of North Third Street and West John Rowan for what was reported to be a large propane tank that had fallen off a truck into the roadway and was leaking. A passerby reported smelling propane in the area. A Bardstown Police officer was first on scene and determined the tank was not a propane tank, but a stainless steel tank used in a water conditioning system. Firefighters arrived on scene and confirmed there was no leaking gas and the tank posed no hazard. Firefighters removed the tank from the roadway and took it back to Fire Station 1 on North Fifth Street.
