firemanhatSTAFF REPORT

Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, 10:20 p.m. (UPDATED Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, 12:30 a.m.) — Three fire departments were called for a house fire Sunday night in the 1000 block of Manton Road in the Botland area. The fire was reported about 9:50 p.m. Sunday night. The Bardstown Fire Department was first called out, and once on scene requested mutual aid form the Northeast Nelson and Loretto fire departments in the form of water tankers and manpower. The tankers were used to shuttle water from a fill hydrant on Botland Loop to the fire scene in order to provide water to fight the fire. At one point, crews used firefighting foam to fight the fire.

Firefighters reported they had control of the fire at 11:24 p.m., and that the fire was out at a few minutes past midnight. Fire crews stayed on scene to extinguish hot spots. Nelson County EMS sent an ambulance for standby, and a police department chaplain responded. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family with immediate shelter needs. No one was injured in the blaze. Firefighters were still on scene at the time of this report.
