Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, 9 p.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested Monday and charged with eight counts of arson, seven of which involved cabins at Old Bardstown Village.

Phillip L. Tingle, 41, was arrested after a months-long investigation by Bardstown Police.

Bardstown Police detectives Lynn Davis and Chris Smith were investigating arson attempts at the village that took place from July to August 2013. Officer Tony Satterly developed a lead that led investigators to interview Tingle about the incidents. Tingle admitted to his involvement in the seven arson incidents, as well as a fire at 136 W. Forrest Ave. on Feb. 14, 2013. Several of the cabins at Old Bardstown Village suffered light to moderate fire damage. Last week, a cabin at the village suffered moderate to severe damage in a fire that also destroyed a number of American Indian artifacts and relics on display in that cabin.

Tingle was charged with eight counts of second-degree arson. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

Anyone with information on these incidents can contact Bardstown City Police, (502) 348-6811 or Nelson County Dispatch, (502) 348-3211.
