EMS, fire department respond to overturned SUV with 24-foot travel trailer

Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, 5:38 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County EMS is responding to the Blue Grass Parkway, westbound near the 21 mile marker for an overturned SUV with a 20-foot trailer. Occupants may be trapped in the vehicle.

5:47 p.m. — Firefighter on scene reports all occupants are out of the vehicle, no one is trapped inside.

5:54 p.m. — Police on scene report the trailer was a travel trailer that essentially disintegrated in the crash, scattering the contents all along the BG median. The officer is requesting manpower to help recover the scattered debris.

6 p.m. — Two individuals at the scene refused transport by EMS. Firefighters have left the site of the crash, but have moved up the parkway to try to warn oncoming traffic to slow down.

6:28 p.m. — Firefighters and police are shutting down the BG Parkway while the clean-up of the crash scene is under way.
