Juvenile bails out of deputy’s vehicle on his way to court

sheriffbadgeMonday, Oct. 7, 2013, 1:10 p.m. — A juvenile who was being transported to the Nelson Justice Center for a court appearance jumped from a deputy sheriff’s vehicle Monday morning about 11:30 near the intersection of US31E south and Sutherland Road. The juvenile fled on foot and escaped. Officers from the Bardstown Police Department and sheriff’s office arrived on the scene to search for the juvenile. Eyewitnesses assisted officers in the search, with reports the youth was on Hurstborne Drive and later, on foot outside the Howard Johnson Inn, 1875 New Haven Road. Deputies spotted the youth on foot and took him into custody behind the hotel. He was transported to the sheriff’s office to meet with a court designated worker. Officers were on scene searching for the youth for about 30 minutes.
